Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ShareWave handles information when you use the ShareWave website and file transfer service.
1. Files you transfer
ShareWave is designed for browser-to-browser file transfers. ShareWave does not provide ordinary cloud storage for uploaded files.
File data may travel directly between the participating browsers. If a direct WebRTC connection cannot be established, a TURN relay may be used to transport the WebRTC traffic between the devices.
2. Signaling information
ShareWave uses a signaling service to help participating browsers establish a WebRTC connection. Signaling information can include connection-related information such as room/session information, WebRTC negotiation data, and network information required to establish the connection.
3. IP addresses and technical information
Our servers may receive technical network information, including IP addresses, as part of normal operation, security monitoring, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and service delivery.
Server logs may also contain technical information associated with connections to the service.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
ShareWave may use cookies, local storage, or similar browser technologies where required for website functionality, security, preferences, analytics, or advertising.
5. Google advertising
If advertising is enabled on ShareWave, third-party advertising providers such as Google may use cookies or similar technologies to provide, measure, and personalize advertising in accordance with their applicable policies and user choices.
Users may receive advertising based on information such as their browsing context and advertising preferences. ShareWave does not receive the contents of users' transferred files for advertising purposes.
6. Third-party services
ShareWave may use third-party infrastructure or services necessary to operate the website and WebRTC functionality. These services may process technical information required to provide their respective services.
7. Data retention
ShareWave does not operate as a permanent file-storage service. Technical logs and security records may be retained for a period appropriate for service operation, security, troubleshooting, and legal obligations.
8. Security
ShareWave uses HTTPS, secure WebSocket connections, and WebRTC security mechanisms where supported by the participating browsers. However, no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's privacy
ShareWave is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. Users should use the service in accordance with applicable laws and with appropriate supervision where required.
10. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.
